Note to Readers: Now that Terri Schiavo's autopsy report has been released, the left wing media elite is calling for apologies to Michael Schiavo. I received numerous letters from Michael's defenders demanding I retract my statements about him in my article: "Michael Schiavo: Loving Husband or Monster." My critics will be sorely disappointed because I offer no apologies or retractions. The autopsy findings are incomplete and inconclusive. Dr. Jon Thogmartin, the Pinellas County medical examiner, found no evidence of bulimia or a heart attack as a cause of Terri's initial collapse on February 25, 1990, nor did she have any heart problems prior to that time. To date, we don't know what caused that incident. What we do know is that Michael Schiavo made the talk show rounds, claiming Terri's profound disability resulted from undiagnosed bulimia. That means Michael Schiavo is a liar.
Finally, as one writer pointed out, what about all those broken bones on the CT scan? The autopsy findings regarding Terri's fractures were based upon medical reports provided by Michael's attorney, and the ME indicated that many of the records are missing or have been destroyed. Regarding the lack of blood flow and oxygen to Terri's brain, the Empire Journal reports that the ME did not rule out that the injuries could have been caused by smothering. Significantly, had Terri been treated with antibiotics for all her infections she could have lived another ten years. The case will remain open. -- BCR
