This book highlights problems of the current health care system in the United States, and begins to formulate a better, more productive policy.  In this era of unprecedented medical advances in research, technology, and treatments, patients shouldn't be faced with denial of care because of poverty, age, or disability.

The American Public wants affordable health care but they also want to have trust in that health care.  They want to know that their health will be considered first, and not the health of a corporation’s piggy bank.

After a disabled woman named Terri Schiavo was sentenced to death by starvation and dehydration by the ruling of a Florida Judge in 2003, people joined together via the Internet to become a powerful force to stop this murder.  This incredible show of human support combined with the power of the Internet formed the basis for the new underground railroad in health care.  If the advocates could help Terri, then they could help others.

Come ride through the dark tunnels, stop at the stations where you will greet other travelers, make lasting friendships, and hopefully, together, emerge into the light of a revitalized health care system that brings back the original ethics of medicine, and rejects the dark philosophies that now prevail.  It will be the ride of your life, but make no mistake, your life, and the lives of your loved ones depend on it!
